Floor plans

Floor plans in architecture are graphic documents showing horizontal sections of a building at different levels. They are a visualization of the layout of rooms, walls, windows, doors and other elements at a particular level of a building. Floor plans are a key tool for architects and builders, providing a detailed view of the structure and functional distribution of space.

Walls, partitions, doors and windows are marked on such plans, defining the shape and dimensions of rooms. Stairs, elevators and other elements of vertical movement are also indicated. The location of furniture, equipment, and utility systems such as electrical outlets and ventilation systems may also be noted. Notes and dimensions supplement information on room dimensions, wall thicknesses and other features.

These plans play a key role in design and construction, providing not only technical information for builders but also helping clients and designers better understand the organization of space in a building. They serve as the basis for interior planning, define ergonomics and provide a clear view of the building structure at various levels.
